Short description

The checklist identifies 3 phases of an operation, each corresponding to a specific period in the normal flow of work: before anaesthesia, before incision, before the patient leaves the operating room. The surgery team must orally confirm that it has completed the listed tasks.

Surgeon, anaesthetist, nurse; together and at the same time

Tested in November 2011 in a few operating rooms.

Surgery teams resist to use it.

Aim of the WHO Checklist is not understood by the surgery team, which is not used to orally sharing basic patient information.
