|Process management in Andalusia is an important project which aims at the reanalysis of workflows that take place in health care, taking into account the multiplicity of scenarios, the participation of different professional groups and the sequential nature of the proceedings, in order to address health care processes integrally. From this perspective, the continuity of care, a proper coordination between levels of care, as well as the orientation towards outcomes are key elements for the improvement of the quality of health care.
The attainment of these objectives is sustained in a few basic elements:
Focus action on the citizen, taking into account their needs and expectations, and measuring their satisfaction.
|Integrated care processes are a tool for quality improvement to facilitate the work of professionals and clinical management. Detailed in the itinerary of the patients, all actions, decisions, activities and tasks that are linked sequentially in your care, care for a specific reason.
Its design is based on flow analysis activities, ensuring continuity of care, clinical effectiveness and taking into account patients’ preferences.
|Management strategy for integrated care processes began in Andalusia in 2000. At the moment it is implemented throughout the Community|
|Implementation tools available|
|Situation analysis: identify existing problems in order to establish those improvements that are necessary to proper implementation of the activities, to establish the role and training needs of professionals and, if it was necessary, the adequacy of training them, optimizing existing resources, the incorporation of new technologies, etc..

|The development process is carried out by groups of professionals from the Andalusian Public Health System, specialists in each of them, not to incur expenses.
Editing and publication costs of the books of processes: all processes are currently published only in digital publishing in the Health Portal of the Andalusian Regional Ministry of Health and Social Welfare
Initial professionals training costs for the implementation: this training is included within the own continuing education of health centers.

|Currently there are 66 integrated care processes described and published. The implementation process varies according to health characteristics of the population served in each area.
