Aim and the benefit of the Patient Safety Practice

The aim of the project is to obtain an homogenized nursing management, that is to say a methodological approach to be used in dealing with intra-hospital emergency situations in a perspective of same operating language through the different task groups. Then, we’d like to improve the professional partnership between physicians and nurses during the emergency process, since it’s a very stressful moment, it could eventually leads to some mistakes or delays.

Starting from 2013, this is a project which aims to be in constantly developing over the years, since it provides for training in order to become aboard an enduring education course. In addition, during 2014, it will be draft as business procedure including a check-list for the emergency truck, which will be available in each task group (and ward) of the local health unit in Pescara. In the first phase 45 training interventions (4 hours) were performed in the time slot 9.00 - 13.00 and 14.30 - 18.30 to allow participation of all nurses. For the evaluation process the following indicators are currently being used: Number of events organized / Number of Units in Pescara. Local Health Authority Number of nurses participating in the events / Total Number of Nurses in the workforce of the Local Health Authority. The education/training project will be transferred in 2014 to all operating units in Pescara Local Health Authority.
