Aim and the benefit of the Patient Safety Practice

To establish a new organizational model for tissues procurement in order to increase the chances of treatment for many patients awaiting corneal transplantation. Active monitoring of all corpses became the requirement for the construction of a path that aims to propose the donation for all potential deceased donors included between 4 and 74 years old.
Description of the Patient Safety Practice

The new organizational model provides that every death occurred in the hospital should be reported by the morgue services to the local coordination nurse. Reporting activates the process of donation and a possible proposal to family members of the deceased patient, after having found all the information regarding eligibility through consultation with the attending physician, analysis of medical records and examination of the body.
